Basic Rug Care
As with carpet, the most important thing you can do for your area rug(s) is to vacuum them regularly. Take care to not vacuum the fringe of your area rug. For pet owners, make sure to brush out pet hair every so often. One more item, turn your rugs every 6 months to a year to even out the wear. But vacuuming alone won’t keep your area rugs lasting for decades — regular cleaning helps too! Area rugs also benefit from a deep cleaning every couple of years, depending on use and traffic. Specialty rugs require special cleaning. If not professionally and properly cleaned, a rug can be damaged during the wash process. Don’t know what kind of area rug you have? Not a problem. Schedule a pick-up (additional fee applies) or drop-off appointment 562-606-2560. We now also offer curbside pick-up! Serving Long Beach, Signal Hill, Lakewood, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Torrance, Cerritos, Huntington Beach and more. Call today for your free quote.
What is rug backing repair and replacement?
Do you have a tufted wool rug? Rug backings are an essential part of the rug construction. Hand tufted rugs are made by shooting wool yarns through a canvas. When done, a second canvas backing is glued to the back of the area rug to stabilize the fibers and foundation. You can tell it’s a tufted rug by looking at the back side of the rug. If you can see a burlap-type fabric, then it’s a tufted wool rug. The burlap fabric comes in a variety of colors most commonly used is a cream, ivory or grey.
Broken rug backings may show wrinkles, pieces of the border or backing may start flaking or peeling off or dust-like particles can be found on your floor when moved. You may also notice signs of a broken backing from the front (face) of the rug like fibers falling out or the rug buckling. If your rug is deteriorating. damaged or broken, backing repair and replacement is an option to preserve the structural integrity of your rug investment. Contact Rug’it Cleaning to arrange a pick-up/delivery (additional fee) or drop-off appointment. We’ll repair the backing and return your rug with new life.

How often should you clean your grout?
Grout is a porous material – it collects dirt and grime often discoloring the surface. Regular mopping doesn’t reach the hidden dirt deep within the pores of grout lines. We recommend you professionally clean your tiles and seal every couple years. It not only protects your grout lines but prolongs the life of your stone. We also recommend you seal your stone at a regular frequency to significantly slow down the absorption of liquid into the stone. If you don’t seal your grout, it will absorb water, bacteria and stains. Adding a grout sealer protects your grout so it’s waterproof and repels moisture and germs. Sealing the grout helps prolong the look, texture and consistency of your group and more importantly prevents mildew and mold.

How do you clean an area rug?
No two area rugs are the same in our world whether by construction or use. We treat each rug uniquely based on its needs. The first step is to identify the area rug. Its fiber, construction and condition. Then we dust it to remove all the dry soils, next pre-wash (rinse) before washing it thoroughly where we apply a cleaning solution and/or treat the area rug based on its cleaning needs. This is done to break down all the grease and soils embedded in the area rug. We then rinse the cleaning agents and leftover soils so we can place the area rug into a centrifuge to extract as much moisture and soiling that cannot be removed by hand. It’s then groomed, combing the pile in the proper direction, before drying onsite. Upon completion, we conduct a final inspection to ensure it’s clean and dried properly where we’ll post-vacuum once it’s passed inspection. If we feel a second cleaning will garnish better results, we repeat the same process again at no additional cost to you.
